Can anybody tell me whether Windows Vista Home Premium is enough for 3DS Max 2009 32bit and 64 bit?
I am facing huge troubles ... tried everything with drivers, ... Do I need a professional/business version of Microsoft?
Cannot find anything on Autodesk…
THANK YOU

A description of the problem would be useful :P
Directx10 is the most likely culprit. Ditch it - use DX9.
Max 4.2 through 2012 (SP2+SAP).
XP-64 (SP2)
NVidia 9800GTX-512 (Driver 266.58).

Description of the problem:
- the whole system (not only 3DS Max) is extremely slow, it behaves as if its hardware accelearation is disabled ... programmes are crashing (even skype) ... it is like it is frozen for about 40 seconds ... than the programme continues working ... popups become white
- if I deinstal it, system works good again
is it correct to install the NVIDIA Performance Drivers?

Typical of Vista generally and DX10 specifically. Revert to DX9.
There are many threads here about Vista’s appalling performance (for everything except games, where it IS actually usable).
As for the drivers - try them as they may help, but only after you get rid of DX10.
Or you could just upgrade to XP…

Thanx
... I try ...
You mean “downgrading to XP64-bit system can help?

XP has had many upgrades over it’s life and is now a very stable platform. The same can’t (yet) be said for vista, so if you want stability and performance XP would have been a better choice. MS are even offering a downgrade path (for PCs with Vista pre-installed) but I don’t know if it applies to the “Home” versions.
Max 4.2 through 2012 (SP2+SAP).

BUT - how do I delete DirectX10 ... it is not possible, isn’t?! I only can add DirectX 9 ...

Load Max, Customise > Preferences > Viewports (tab) > Choose Driver and select DX9. Beyond that I can’t really help - no Vista here.
