| Backburner render issue - Error retrieving configuration file
|
|
|
Hi
When I submit a network render job to backburner in Max I get the error message “Error retrieving configuration file”?
What is this file and what is the fix.
I am rendering with Mental Ray
Max 2009 Design, Backburner 2008.1, Vista Ultimate 64 bit, 4Gb Ram

Thank you to Nicolas from Autodesk support for pointing me to this:
Issue
When you clicked the Render button to submit a network render job, the following error message was displayed:
Error retrieving configuration file
Solution
This error indicates a problem writing to the Program Files\Backburner 2 folder. This may occur because of insufficient user permissions or incorrect security settings for this folder and its subfolders. Users must have a minimum of Power User rights and must have Full Control permissions to all files and folders contained in the Backburner 2\Network folder.
I gave full control to this folder for my user account and everything worked fine.

Good tip, I just ran into that issue myself. The mentioned solution worked perfectly.

With BB 2008.1, the folder should be C:\Program Files (x86)\Autodesk\Backburner
-jeff
Max/Composite 2012 (subscription)
Win7-64pro, Intel i7-hex on SuperMicro mobo, 12 GB RAM
nVidia Quadro 5000, render farmette on BB2012

hi
I’ve got this problem since i’ve installed backburner 2012 and max 2012.
The problem is still there after trying all kind of authorization on the backburner folder, several install, cleaning registry, etc.
I got Win7 pro 64 and i loose several hours to find a solution on the net but nothing change !
Help please !

We are having the same problem with permissions and Win 7. Works in Admin profiles, but no other. Even after making the entire ‘C drive’ full control, the user can’t start Backburner server on some computers.
Anyone figure this out yet?

Hi
I’ve solved my problem !
I replace the backburner.xml file in
C:\Users\"username"\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\2012 - 64bit\enu\BackBurner (3ko)
by the one in
C:\Users\"username"\AppData\Local\backburner (8ko)
(these paths are for windows 7)
and it worked immediately (no need to restart max)
hope it will help
