I asked this question just a couple of days before. But that is the issue of Mental Ray. It is an issue of IRay. I don’t know how to get such effect in IRay. Is it a matter of material or any other thing else? I give it several tries with Arch & Design material with no avail. The Self-Illumination of Arch & Design didn’t give me any glow effects. Is there any other possible ways out? Many thanks!

Use a photometric light with the florescent preset?

The Self-Illumination of Arch & Design didn’t give me any glow effects.

Do you mean the self-illumination option on the A&D material didn’t produce light for you?  Because glow & light are two different things.  If the self-illumination option on the A&D didn’t produce light with iray then it’s probably due to your exposure settings not allowing you to see the light.

Glow via things like the glare camera shader aren’t supported by iray at this time so that’s why a glow wouldn’t work.

I’m using a photometric light with florescent preset. I also assigned a Arch & design material with self illumination to the tube object.

See if this thread helps with the self-illuminated material issues: http://area.autodesk.com/for...rendering/help-with-iray/

try with an autodesk generic material, with self illum on, and assign it to a tube. I’ve tested it, and it works like a charm with iRay.

There’s a preset called “light bulb - on” already tweaked in the material library.

cheers!
