Hey there

for some reason when I apply a hair and fur modifier on an object it wont show up when I do a quick render. is there anything I can do to fix this?

Thanks.

Could you tell us more information.  Which version of max are you using?  What did you apply the hair modifier too?
Hard to say without more scene details.  Which render engine are you using?

Sure, I’m using max 8 and I’m applying the hair fur modifier to any primitive object such as a sphere and what not… as far as render engines I’m not sure and I’m guessing that has a lot to do with it.

the best I can do is just show my current render settings. hopefully this will help.

Bleeping slow imageshack :(

Much better to attach the image than use IMG tags - just don’t do a preview.

As for the renderer…
Expand the Assign Renderer rollout - you can see it at the very bottom of your image.

From the screen shot, it says he’s using scanline. Can you give us a sample scene where it’s not rendering? Or list the steps you’re using to apply the H&F?

sure

here’s the object I use. as you can see its just a plain sphere.

with the sphere selected I pull up the hair and fur modifier from the modifier list.

here’s how the sphere looked after I applied the hair and fur modifier.

here’s how the sphere looks when I render it.

Edit: After posting a different possible solution, I saw you’re using the ActiveShade window which won’t render the H&F. Switch to Production in the rendering menu to render the H&F.
