I have a linear light fixture that is using an ies file from Peerless for their linear fixture. Test scene is created in REVIT and fbx to 3dsMAx. The light source is a rectangle 1"x48". When the light is rendered it is distrubted from the center of the rectangle instead of along the entire 4’ length. See attached image

What am I doing wrong in the setup of the fixture

You’ll need to actually look at the IES files in 3ds, make them linear. They do not import correctly at the moment.

Also since this is a direct-indirect fixture, you will need to set the fixture property so that it does not cast shadows. Check the Object properties. Else the light will not be accurate.

It is also a known problem that light objects set to emit from a Line or Rectangle have a tendency to have more light come from the center than the ends in mental ray.  I’ve seen samples from iray and V-Ray that show it uniformly distributed, but mr is always hot in the middle.
