Hi all,

I am trying to light the cockpit in the picture below for night lighting by using an omni in each of the lights on the panel.  Unfortunately, they keep shining through the housing for the light.  The idea is that they generally light up the slide rule and the clipboard on the sides.  I tried using spots and adjusting the intensity, but no deal…

Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong?

Kevin

Try turning shadows on.  Failing that just exclude the instrument panel from the illumination buy using the exclude option under the omni lights general parameters

Also, make sure there are faces on the inside of the light housings.

Is this with Scanline, or mental ray, or something else?

For the actual instruments you might start with self-illuminating materials.
