Is it worth rendering out my MR render elements to 16/32 Open EXR file and then trying to do post work in PS?

How does one take advantage of the OpenEXR benefits in PS? Do I use the Exposure Adjustment Layer?

I’ve read that OpenEXR is better used in Nuke, Fusion, Composite etc. But I would like to use it in PS as I’m more familiar with it.

Well you definitely CAN use PS, but it has problems with 32-bit (as was already said) and you wont be able to split up the channels without using a special plugin (costs around 100 bugs I guess).
If you want a PS-like workflow you could use After Effects (I know it’s meant for motion FX, but does some fine job with stills, too; sometimes it_’s even better, e.g. when it comes to lensflares) and render out a single frame in the end (You can use EXtractoR (I think it’s in Effects>3D Channel) to extract the different channels in the file).

But Nuke/Toxik/Fusion and so on are WAY better than any Adobe software when it comes to 32-bit image files (sad but true; keeps annoying me, too - would be great if there were a working editing program for EXR stills).

I’ve seen the ProEXR plugin for PS you are talking about. My problem is that once I bring an OpenEXR file into PS, I honestly don’t know how to take advantage of it (do I use the Exposure adjustment layer?). But this may be because of PS limitations with 32 bit.
