Is it possible to render out just one pass (such as the diffuse pass) without having to render out the rest?

My thought is, say I have already rendered out the following pass:

-diffuse
-reflection
-refraction
-shadow
-specular
-etc etc

but then had to change the texture. Can I get Mental Ray (MR) to render out just the diffuse pass without having to render out the other passes. I dont just mean turn off the other passes, I mean to speed up rendering by getting MR to concentrate on only the diffuse pass.

Is this possible?

Gawd.. that would be a real time saver. MR seems to want to render the default view no matter what. I posed this question last year but I didn’t get a solid answer. Just shadows, Just Velocity or Z-Depth, quickly would be great.
