I am having a problem in exporting channels in RLA/RPF file formats from max. Max saves the RLA/RPF file but doesn't save the channels in it. I want to save Z Depth, Material ID, Object ID, Coverage, etc. and for that I selected these channels from the channels list in the RPF Image File Format dialog box. I am attaching a simple max file (max 201064bit) so that you can see what's the actual problem in it. I would be very much glad to know the reason. Regards. 2009-11-21T19:06:54+01:00 mental ray error - missing UVW Mapping Coords http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-3ds-max/lighting---rendering/mental-ray-error---missing-uvw-mapping-coords/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-3ds-max/lighting---rendering/mental-ray-error---missing-uvw-mapping-coords/page-last/#When:21:47:49Z I've got a 3ds max 2009 outdoor scene with some buildings, which I just rendered in mental ray (a 300-frame animation using network rendering.) Every object in the scene has either explicit UVW mapping coordinates or mapping coordinates generated upon creation (for procedural objects.) I just made some tweaks to the scene, re-saved it and have tried rendering it again, and now mental ray is giving me the error "Object (UVW 1) [various objects] require texture coordinates and may not render correctly." ALL of the objects in my scene have texture coordinates and rendered fine the first pass. Why is mental ray suddenly deciding that some objects in my scene no longer have mapping coordinates? Even after I applied UVW maps to some procedural objects, I'm still getting the error. I need to fix this ASAP, because I'm on a serious deadline here. [How to render on a white background with reflections and shadows] http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-3ds-max/lighting---rendering/the-unexplained-question-how-to-render-on-a-white-background-with-reflections-and-shadows/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-3ds-max/lighting---rendering/the-unexplained-question-how-to-render-on-a-white-background-with-reflections-and-shadows/page-last/#When:13:15:25Z Hi everyone, I have searched everywhere for an answer to this question but have yet to find an answer that works with what I am trying. I'm trying to render some products for a portfolio so when they appear on a white (transparent) background with just shadows. I am using mental ray with a daylight system. I have tried using the matte/shadow/reflection material for the ground plane but all I get is a black plane. Using a white plane doesn't work either as the color is not white under the daylight. It seems to me the matte/shadow technique is the best, I just have no idea how to do it. Thanks in advance for any advice. 2009-11-20T13:15:25+01:00 Mental Ray Daylight problem in while rendering http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-3ds-max/lighting---rendering/mental-ray-daylight-problem-in-while-rendering/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-3ds-max/lighting---rendering/mental-ray-daylight-problem-in-while-rendering/page-last/#When:13:52:03Z Hi all, I'm new in this website, which I found one of the best about Autodesk products. So I thought someone might help me with a problem in one render I'm trying to finish. I use daylight wich comes in through the courtain, and it is the one and only light in the scene. I'm quite happy by now, although it is a little dark, but the problem I find is what I have marked in red. This light rebounds that make the sofa so clear inside, or the wall. That happened also under the TV desk, but I set a black box under it so I had not that effect. Can someone help me to know if it is a render configuration problem, or lighting one? Does anyone know if this is possible? The purpose would be to use the radiosity subdivision to help automate a good vertex distribution, which I can then use to store ambient occlusion in the vertex colors, and export to use in a game engine. 2009-11-19T02:30:57+01:00 No normal map option in render elements dialog http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-3ds-max/lighting---rendering/no-normal-map-option-in-render-elements-dialog/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-3ds-max/lighting---rendering/no-normal-map-option-in-render-elements-dialog/page-last/#When:21:53:32Z Hi, I simply want to render out a seperate normal map element to relight my scene afterwards in post production, you can render it out with an rpf file but you can't render it seperate in the render elements dialog. rpf sucks, because it doesn't anti-aliase the elements, (who uses this file format anyway?). Does anyone have a solution, or am I simply looking over it? I've been googling it for a while and found nothing, nothing on this forum, or is this such a stupid question no one is bothering to answer? :-) tx in advance 2009-11-17T21:53:32+01:00 Question about reflection map http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-3ds-max/lighting---rendering/question-about-reflection-map/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-3ds-max/lighting---rendering/question-about-reflection-map/page-last/#When:15:22:07Z I have a problem. Let's say, I have a sphere. My sphere reflects what sorrounds her. But i don't want her to do that. In fact, I want her to reflect an image of my liking. Like a diffuse map with 80% opacity. But I don't want to lose her material properties. Does anyone know about it? I tried rendering the attached image at 1920x1080 pixels, but it seems like it came out at 640x480. I'm not sure how to fix this, I already tried messing with the JPEG quality settings. any suggestions? 2009-11-15T10:38:29+01:00 SLow rendering with image blur in 3ds max 2010 http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-3ds-max/lighting---rendering/slow-rendering-with-image-blur-in-3ds-max-2010/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-3ds-max/lighting---rendering/slow-rendering-with-image-blur-in-3ds-max-2010/page-last/#When:23:02:06Z Hello, i have a problem the image motion blur in 3ds max 2010 is slower than 3ds max 2009 and its a huge difference,i dont know what is happening both have the same preferences and i made a test with a very simple teapod with an animation, witout lights and materials.
