I’m running into a bit of a problem.  I’ve got a texture map which is made up of numerous colors/textures being combined with mix maps, and separated by an overall noise texture. (Rock, and snow) I have different displacements for both rock and snow, and would like to combine the two maps with a mix node, and control the mix with the same noise as the others (so that the snow has it’s own displace, as does the rock).

VRay displacement modifier does not seem to respect the mix node, and only displaces the first map in the mix channel. Anyone know of a way to make this work?

I believe that the Vray Displacement only supports bitmap. You could render to texture and save your mix material out as a JPG, BMP, TGA, PNG etc. and then you can use it.

Ahh, I wasn’t aware that I could do that.  Care to explain the process?  That would definitely solve my problem.

You may be seeing a variation on this max issue:

So it may be the mix map, and not vray disp. Just FYI.
