Hope someone can point me to the right direction.

I am doing a few stills using Vray, and I do have them setup just right. It looks really nice. I am using depth-of-field (Vray physical camera) and whereas the foreground objects are great and photo-real, the background ones have little roughness to bright spots, looks almost like film grain.

I am not very experienced Vray user, so what settings should I start tweaking?

I am going to take a stab at his and say it would ultimately involve your sampling. I would go fully adaptive in your DMC setttings (1.0) and then adjust your sample amounts to facilitate smoothing that out.
