Hello

Question for the group

I am working on a series of animations where my boss and I may need to share models
I am on Max 8 (PC) he is on Carrara 7 (mac)

So far simple .obj (primative heavy) are working--but no textures are coming over

Just to make things interesting--we could be trading poser models as well in near future

any advice on textures and poser ?
Tips On general interface with these two platforms?

perryburgess - Carrara Pro supposedly supports the FBX format.  However, I have personally had (very) limited success using this feature in Cararra 6 Pro (Windows).  If they’ve fixed the FBX format import/export in v7 that would be the way to go - it should port the whole lot, models, textures and bones/skinning, as I understand it.

Please let me know how you get on, because if it works I’ll buy an upgrade to Carrara 7 Pro ;o) because this would overcome a long-standing headache for me!

p.s. As an alternative, you could get Colladamax and use the Collada import/export. (again, I’ve tried this myself with limited success)
