Hey, I need to make a glass panel show up realistically on a totally white background in a web 2.0 kinda way. I can get it to work if the environment is set to black, but i need it on white so my ground plane doenst show. Amy suggestions?

Hmmm...that could be helpful later...thanks for the heads up. The problem I am having is that I need to render a flat glass plane on this white background. I can get an edge or two to show up, but the rest of the panel is invisible. I can adjust the transparency of course, but then the plane looks flat. I don’t want to use too much of a reflection map, as I don’t want any recognizable reflections on the panel, as I hope to reuse it.

A clear, reflective material is defined by what it reflects and refracts. You don’t see glass, you see reflections on its surface and how it affects the light passing through it. You can try giving it a little blue or green color, just to help it show up.
How will you be using it, exactly? That might help us understand how to help you.

What renderer are you using? What type of material and how have you got the material set up?
