Hi everyone!

I am currently working on a GPU pcb in 3ds MAX 2012. However, I would like to apply my own logo (transparent) and keep the other texture from clashing. In other terms, I would like to leave the processor texture alone and only alter the logo.

Secondly, I’ve heard that you can use BMP format and make it transparent. For example, set the area white if you want to see parts of it. But, leave everything else black! After that, I must place the black & white version (bmp) to “opacity map” and colour version to diffuse colour. Am I correct or wrong? Please correct me…

P.S. It’s complicated for me to explain. But, please understand what I am trying to say.

Thank you for everything!

Try using the Composite material.  You can put your main material in the Base Material slot and then add your logo material in the Mat. 1 slot using a monochrome bitmap for the cutout to reveal the base material.
