I have an image of a freeway exit sign. I have created a retangular surface in max. Can someone explain how i can set up a map so it will expand the image to the full size of the plane. I am very new to 3ds max.

Standard Material, Image in the Diffuse map slot. Apply the material (not the image) to the object. use the Tiling spinners (in the Map parameters) to alter the size. Make sure that Real World map scale is OFF in the map and the object (if it’s a standard primitive (plane or box)).

You would be well advised to do the tutorials which come with Max as this is a very basic procedure.

It’s also important to always state which version of Max and whether it it standard or design - there are many differences which can affect any replies you get. Best to put those details in your sig (see mine below for an example).

Max 4.2 through 2013.
XP-64 (SP2)
NVidia 9800GTX-512 (Driver 266.58).
Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz, 8Gb Ram, DX9.0c.

Max Design defaults to using Real World Scaling for maps - that will be a problem in this case, so remember to turn it off on the map and the object.
