Hello all,

This is my first post here and I am glad to announce how hooked I am on 3ds Max, so much nicer than when I used to use Maya.

I just have a question about a material I am wanting to try and replicate (from something I’ve seen). If you look in the top left corner of this image, you will see a sphere made of stars, which has a very sandy/grainy, but very smooth and dark texture (this same texture is repeated on the sphere in the center of the image). More can be seen here.

What would be the most recommended material base to use inorder to create this? Also would it be all done through the Max material settings or do you think it would be done using a bitmap bump/texture?

Thank you.
