I’m having some issues with my materials not displaying correctly (see attachment). I created a model in SketchUp and imported into 3DS Max and normally it displays everything correctly. In this case I need to create a Boolean object out of the object, in order to do this I needed to apply a cap holes modifier. When I do that some of the materials are being incorrectly displayed.
Ive search the forums and the web for the problem and had no luck, granted this could be due to the fact that Im very new to 3DS Max and Im not asking the right question.
Just to give a little more incite on my project…. I need to create an animation of a hill building up. It needs to show grass (aerial image) on the outside and dirt on the inside. Im using a Boolean object for the effect (see the animation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghPr5-2r6Ig&feature=player_embedded)

Ooooh, Cap Holes can be a bad thing. What is probably happening here is the Cap Holes is causing coplanar faces. Instead, try creating faces using Edit Poly or Edit Mesh. And I also always advise against Boolean unless you are in a hurry or there is no other option. 90% of the time Boolean can be avoided, and result in a cleaner mesh.
