When i assign a texture to one object like my Kitchen counter top max also assign it to my living room table even those they are different objects and made differently. is there anyway to stop max from doing this? without mading the table again?

These are some things I can think of that might cause that to happen.
Do the materials have the same name? Did you have both objects selected when you applied the material? Did you instance the material into another slot?
If you want to post the scene, we can look at it for you.

It’s a little hard to tell where the problem is coming from without it in front of me. Can you reproduce the problem with other objects? Or just those two?

To check on the assignment of materials in a scene:
1. Open the Material Editor
2. Click on the Get Material icon (blue ball, far-left, just under the sample slots)
3. Set Browse From to Scene
In the attached example the material “Marble Green Perlin” is shown as a Standard type, and assigned to both the Earth and Mars objects.
What you are describing will occur if both objects are in the same closed Group, and you assign the material to the group.

If you cannot post the scene, can you post a screen grab of the Material/Map browser, set to Browse from Scene, with the problem material highlighted?

I don’t see “living room table” anywhere in the material list. So which material is on the living room table?

There is no object called “living room table” so I will assume the table is made up of the “table...” objects listed below.
Material name “22-Default” is a Standard material.
It is assigned to the following objects:
Kitchen counter
table frame
table tile
table tile01
table tile02
table tile03
table tile04
table tile05
How are you assigning the materials?
Please describe the steps you are using for the different ways you have tried.
Can you delete all but the above objects, zip that scene file and post it?
