For some reason my mental ray materials are not working properly.  if you look at the attachment you can see that the maps for all the presets are missing.  well, there not missing but mental ray just cant find them.  is there a file i can reset or something so that this problem is fixed? btw this is a clean install of 3ds max so i don’t know why it would be doing this.

Max version? Really is a good idea to put this (and your brief system specs) in your sig then we don’t have to keep asking.

If you have Max 2010 make sure you installed the Service Pack and the latest hotfix - this is a known issue.

Max 4.2 through 2013.
XP-64 (SP2)
NVidia 9800GTX-512 (Driver 266.58).
Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz, 8Gb Ram, DX9.0c.

I do have the service pack installed so i dont think its the problem.  i have max 2010 installed on another computer with win 7 64 and the maps work fine on that one.

Customise | Configure User Paths | External Files.

Check that - make sure that the path to where those images are is there. On my system that is installdir\Maps\ArchMat.

Also, click the Map button by the “color:” swatch and check the path to the image. If it’s just a map name without a path then you may have a symptom of the known issue - possibly caused by updating the material library before you applied the SP & Hotfix.
