I was wondering how you go about organizing your files for materials, maps, textures, props, etc?

I know the default is /install_dir/materiallibraries. I also know that the standard practice for many seems to be to keep all project files together for each project (ie. all files used). To me it seems like you’d have a ton of duplication after a while?

So what does your organization tree look like for your “resource” files? Do you keep them local (in your install directory), or on a local “resource” drive, or on a network?

Do files tend to fall into one of, say, two categories (textures, maps)? Can a map also be a texture?

I’m probably over-thinking it.

Thanks

Dave
