hello all

i need some advice/help. i’ve only recently started to export 3d meshes from 3ds max to xna and i can’t find a way to bring over a reflective texture i.e. chrome or some metallic texture. i was wondering if anyone has any idea how to drag them across or alternatively fabricate them in xna.i’ve tried to bake them as targa files almost as a hack but the whole programme just crashes and burns

any help from anyone would be appreciated

cheers

I’ll admit a level of ignorance with XNA pipeline, but it sounds like you
are trying to do environment mapping, which should be within the
scope of what XNA can handle. Usually, when people talk about
reflections they are trying to simulate real reflections (at least
when it comes to game engines).

Googling XNA environment mapping yielded tons of hits...I’d start
there and dig around some of the forum hits.

Good luck.
