Ugly patches on wood floor

I’m getting some horrible marbly type patches on a wood floor texture I’m using (see attached).
I’m creating a visual for two options and this exact material has used fine for the first option, but when doing test renders for the second option I’m getting this ugly marble effect on the floor. I’ve deleted different items that I though maybe causing it but it’s definitely the floor texture. Does anyone know what is causing it?

1. Make sure you’re using the Submit button instead of the preview post button when attaching something.  From what I’ve read if you preview post when adding an attachment it doesn’t work.

2. Once you get the attachment thing worked out, you’ll also want to clarify your post to define what version of 3ds Max and what render engine you’re using.  Not everyone uses the same version and/or render engine and mentioning those details will help you get a proper answer.

Thanks for getting back, still not having any luck posting the image. I choose/browse the file click on add attachment and instead of uploading the file another choose/browse file button pops up. I’ve added images before with no probs so god knows what is going on.

As for which version of 3d Studio I’m using, it is 2010, 64 for XP.

Don’t click “Add Attachment”.  Just “Browse”, find your file, then submit.  Feel free to edit an previous post instead of keeping to add more replies.

Well finally added the image! God knows why it would’nt let me do it yesterday.

I have the exact same problem! Although I’ve seen it on metal and other materials as well. It has something to do with reflections. Haven’t found a good solution to it though..except for shutting the reflections off and that is not OK.

What are you using for a bump map on the material?  I saw this on a recent project where a Noise map was added to the bump of a metal material to give it a little variation, and it did reflections similar to this.
