Is there a reason why the “DX Display of Standard Material” checkbox in the DirectX Manager rollout of the Material Editor is disabled on a scripted material plugin that extends the Standard material class? I couldn’t find the limitation documented anywhere.

I am curious about this, too.  Has there been any development on the issue?  I’m trying to display a normal map while extending StandardMaterial, but the button still appears to lack the hardware display flyout.  (Max 2012)
