I’ve been watching a wonderful tutorial by Gnomon where tha artist modeler is modeling a hard surface helicopter in Maya… I model for a long time now in max and I know the polyboost, or the embbeded tools in max 2010 (creating a edge loop and moving it) but the tool in Maya, where you cn preview the loop in dotted line before cutting is really awesome!
Does anyone know a plug in or something that does EXACTLY the same thing in max ?

Select all the edges which would cross the new loop and open the Connect Dialog (little button next to “connect"). Use the Slide Spinner to position the new edge loop.

Thank U Steeve !
I knew the tool...and the options very handy ! still...in maya you dont need to select the edge you want to cross ! It’s hugely quicker for hard surface modeling ! maybe on the gnomon site they have a sample clip where you can see it in action .Amazing

hellooo!!! I’ve seen that tool in Maya and is nice.... personally I love using shortcuts in max to make my loops…
anyway… That tool you saw in Maya… is now in max, added in the new ribbon… its called “swift loop” and it works exactly the same!! you can find it in “graphite modeling tools/edit/swift loop”.. regards.

Swiftloop tool in Graphite - Edit should do what you’re looking for.
