Hello -

I am a new user, I have moved from Lightwave to 3DS Max. I have been going through tutorials, but I was wondering if there was a walk through somewhere for building a house? Just a room, actually, bring in some molding profiles, add windows, etc.

Thanks in advance :)

I think you should have a play with Walls in the AEC Extended dropdown (Geometry Panel). Windows and Doors are available in the root of this dropdown - they cut automatically into the walls you create. I don’t know why these are not grouped as that would make more sense, but it’s the way it is. All of your walls, doors and windows should be real size., but that’s not mandatory.
Alternatively, you can bring in AutoCAD (or similar) line drawings and Extrude them, or draw your own elevations as lines then extrude.

I would think with your Lightwave skills you would already know how to build the room in 3D and are more wanting to know how to use the 3dsmax tools to achieve this? If this is the case I would recommend checking out the 3dsmax getting started tutorials - http://bit.ly/Rlda6

Edit: this may assist you further in 3D Geometry… http://bit.ly/dyDbXZ
