I have some edges on my models that dont cooperate when i click Loop.  They’re inline with each other but it wont loop for some reason.  Is there anyway to tell 3dsmax “hey this is an edge loop.... turn it into an edge loop selection.”?  i use the cut tool, insets, bevel etc and some edges loose the ability to be selected as loops.. any tips, advice or rules of thumb?  thank you

unwelded vertices will cause this.

Where the loop stops is normally a good indication of where to check your verts. Most likely have two verts ontop of each other, if they’re all welded it should loop round.

Cheers

Sometimes, it may seem apparent to you that this loop should be recognized, but the way Max determines a loop may be different than you.  For example, make a cylinder primitive and convert to Editable Poly.  The top edge of the cylinder at the cap is obviously an edge loop to me, but not to Max.  If I Inset the top face a little, then it will see the edge loop.

Can you show us a screen cap (assuming the unwelded vertices doesn’t fix the problem) so we can see where the problem is?
