I have an editable spline with two vertices I want to create a segment between. how would I go about doing this? I know that I can use insert to create a segment starting at one of the vertices, but I don’t know how to ensure that the other end of the segment is aligned to another vertex in the spline. Is there a way to align things to specific vertices within objects instead of the whole objects (as you would with the align tool)

Assuming a single Editable Spline object with 2 splines within it :-
Spline sub-object level
Click Create Line (on the Geometry rollout)
Turn on Snaps (to vertex)
Create a new line between 2 of the existing endpoints
Area select the affected vertices and weld them

There’s a whole bunch of stuff on working with splines in the Max help which may prove useful.

Thanks that worked perfectly. I can’t believe I never knew that you could change snaps to snap to anything but gridlines…
