i have been searching for a long time for a simple workflow, that lets me turn max-primitives or editable polis into objects with hexagonal faces. recently i came across a youtube-video which is quite close to what i am after.

unfortunately it is done with maya (moreover using a japanese version)
can anybody imagine how to do this in max?
