How to make velvet cloth texture in max. i mean render setups in vray

the easiest way is to get a velvet material and paint it on

i did this but it will not came good velvet . Can u tell me how to make vary render setups for velvet .

try putting the velvet you painted in the bump or displace channel. what are you putting velvet on pants, table cloth

this is something I did quick its not a good shape. but just to show something with a velvet like material

I assumed the image you posted is what you came up with. if thats not the case you could have painted a dark velvet texture on. I couldnt post an image here is a link

I think he specifically wanted a setup for Vray, not mental ray. But I’m sure an equivelent Vray setup could be created based on this.

You are on the right track though. Velvet is not just a case of applying velvet picture diffuse map, it’s about how light reacts with it at different angles or view, with possibly some variations where fibres have been moved.

In fact Samab, if he can, you should not use a texture. This method of building material velvet, gave me much satisfaction ;)
