I agree with Steve. It’s most likely the export/import setting from whatever package was used .

If you have the original import, it’s worth trying this script by Bobo: DeleteDoubleFaces http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/deletedoublefaces-0

Thanks for the links, that solved my problem. Specifically this:

I turn off all the STL import options when I know my model is error free, and normals have not been a problem.

And everything works perfect in a perfect virtual world of perfectnes.



Software: 3ds Max 2011
Videocard: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460
Processor: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5430
Memory : 4GB DDR2
OS: Microsoft Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 2)
Model: Dell Precision T7400
