Hi, I’m having a problem…
I am modeling an alien face, but when I rendered it to see how it was, there were many triangular holes.
The applyed modifiers are turbo smooth and symmetry.

Can you show us the wires?

Check for extra faces & edges within your model; plus, you may want to double check to see if your vertices are properly welded as you go.

Here it is.
And another thing...When I imported the object to another program, and rendered it, nothing was wrong.

Did you check for extra faces or edges?

Yes. Nothing is wrong.
And I found out it is a problem with mental ray. When I render with the default scanline render, there is no problem.

When I chose mental ray back, the problem disappeared!
Thanks for the fast replies.

I experienced this problem yesterday, but it was caused by me accidentally switching to a “User” view while strip modeling a somewhat small part; either way, when I switched back to the regular “Perspective” view the problem went away & the object rendered correctly - all be it, I cannot get the problem to reproduce itself this morning.

Well I was finally able to reproduce the problem on a consistent basis.  It appears that mr does not like rendering objects with curvature in orthographic views.  It seems like I remember this being a problem before, but I’m not sure.  I do know that I’ve utilized a camera with the orthographic option selected before with mr & it worked fine, but even that does not appear to be working now.  Very rarely have I had to use this option, but it does present it’s self from time to time with things like text & graphic design type projects; although, renders should really only be done in a perspective & not an orthographic (User) view.

I would like to know why it is doing this, but I have not tested any further render settings to find out; truly, this does not look like a settings issue, but could possibly be some type of bug - maybe.  Checkout the brief renders that somewhat depict this problem, & as I have said, this was not done with a lot of detailed analysis at this point in time.
