I need to model a Can watermark.jpgbut I can only use the Geometry Tab and the modifiers stack to make it. Anyone as clues on wich modifiers to use to make the waves around the can ? Any tuts on modeling interiors kitchen hardware would also be appreciated(also by only using the modifiers stack).

Thx in advance.

The hose with flex section unable work well but I can only add geometry evenly.

Sounds like a school assignment?

Would an Edit Poly modifier be out of the question?  Add it to a cylinder, select the edges in EP and Connect them.  Then select every other edge loop and scale them out slightly, or use the Extrude command in EP.

If it’s an assignment you can pretty much guarantee that EP/EM are out of the question. Primitives + modifiers only.
The logical route would be a Lathed spline, but even that is disallowed by “the geometry tab” - splines are on the Shapes tab.

I would certainly check back through any coursework you have - it’s unlikely you’d be set such a goal without having gone through at least some of the methods they expect you to use.

I can only use edit poly to select a area to remove and cant focus the whole modeling on edit poly or I will be loosing points, Like removing the top of the teapot to make a cofecup with a Taper and shell modifiers.

Maybe with a few volume select, use soft selection to select the area I need, then play with the gizmo but then what modifiers? I tried most of them if not all that make sense and nothing work as The flex Section(Hose in the Extended Primitive object type). The prob with the Hose is that there is no setting for the caps so I cant make the wave on top of the can. I can remove it and replace it with something else though.

Well hehe there a setting to show only the body and the handle so no need to add a edit poly but anyway was a exemple! I never taught I would start with a teapot to model something lol.

Anyone as another cool trick I could use to model a Kitchen linen cupboard(I think this how it is call) that involve only modifiers and the Geometry tab?

Curious: Is external research allowed for the assignment?

One night I answered my own student’s question and told him I would see him in class the next day. In his case, I allowed outside consultation.

Cylinder with multiple height Segments.
Add Mesh Select modifier.
Select the top.
Add a Delete Modifier.
Add Poly Select modifier.
Select every other row of horizontal edges using Loop.
Add a Push modifier to create the rings.

Just one way to do it.
