Hi, I’m wondering if there is a way to line up a vertex with an edge that is not on an exact axes?  I’ve tried the snap either I’m not using it correctly or it doesnt work as I expect it to it lines the vert up with some arbitrary point along the edge.

Also if I’m able to line it up with the edge is there a way to angle the move gizmo with the direction of the edge without using axes constraints(edge etc)?

There is a midpoint snap if that is what you mean by aligning the vert to an edge.

In order to get the reference system to align to an edge you’ll need to set up some point helpers (don’t think it is doable with the working pivot)

Create two Point Helpers
Assign a Look At Constraint to one of the points and make the other one the target
Activate 3d Snap with Pivot and Vertice checked
Move the two Point Helpers to each end of the edge using snap
Choose Pick from the Reference Coordinate System Rolldown and pick the constrained point

There you go.

Would be extremely helpful if this functionallity was build in to the working pivot..

I think its more like a cross section I guess a simpler way would would be to align the vert with the two end of the edge verts.  Anway I will look into those helper things, thanks alot.
