I am currently working on SR71 blackbird I have the thing for the most part modelled. However I have hit a roadblock and no matter what I try it looks wrong. I tried applying things like HSDS and it makes my model to rounded.I want this thing to look at photo-realistic as possible using max 2010. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Attached are screenshots, Thanks

Lighting and texturing are going to do a lot for a model. You have a good enough base, although it does look like it could use more detail in certain areas, which can’t be done automatically with a modifier. You’ll need to add that detail manually.

It does look like there are a few smoothing problems here and there. Could be the groups or unwelded edges. Also, the model looks a bit asymetrical. Modeling half the object with a symetry mod is a good idea for symetical objects. I’m not that familiar with the aircraft, so not sure of what additional details it needs, possibly cockpit windows. The lighting and materials should bring the photrealism once the modeling is complete to the level of detail you need.

From the images you’ve posted, I notice problems of “Normal” on the faces of the model. (see attach).
Try to see the tut on Max Tutorial(Autodesk 3ds Max Tutorials > Modeling Tutorials > Refining the Airplane) for more help or my little tutorial ( http://area.autodesk.com/tutorials/11_object_space_modifiers_edit_normal ).
With a lot of reference images of the model aircraft I advise you to divide the model into several parts (fuselage, wings, etc.) to have greater control of modeling.
You create multiple levels at work so you have total control over the various stages of modeling and, as suggested by Samab, model half aircraft and after using the modifier Symmetry.

If you want to make your model look better in render make sure you don’t have sharp edges. All the objects we see around in real world have some amount of smoothness in the edges. So keep that in mind. Take care of the details, that will take you a long way. Hope you know texturing, lighting and rendering because there role is inevitable. Good luck! Like to see the final output.
