Hi,

On two similar drawings (A & B), Turbosmooth react differently and I cannot understand why.
See the attached images. A01 shows shape without turbosmooth. A02 shows the result with Turbosmooth. Same for shape B.
Result of Turbosmooth on A02 and B02 are very different.

Does anyone know why?

thanks.

Can you post the scene (with both objects in it) please? It’s most likely the construction of the underlying mesh, but it’s not too easy to see from images.
Also, which one is “right” and which is “wrong” - so we know what you’re aiming for.

Hi,

Here’s the max file with both object. The good one is the blue object. This is where the turbosmooth doesn’t make everything look round.

thanks for your help.

The reason you get two different results is because you have turbosmooth set to smooth by Smoothing Groups and both objects have different smoothing groups.

To get the green object to look like the blue object, I selected the highlighted polys and gave them their own smoothing group. This keeps them from smoothing with other polys and distorting into the oval shape.
