Hi there,

Anybody know how to make the snaps on meshes reappear? First time this has happened to me.

Thanks in advance.

Do you mean Vertex Ticks? (small blue squares where the vertices are) or actual Snaps? A screenshot, and/or a small sample scene (zipped) would help.

For Snaps, right-click the Snaps button (or Customise > Grid and Snap Settings) and make sure Vertex is selected.

For the Ticks:-
Customise > Preferences > Viewports (tab) - check the Vertex Tick settings.
Also make sure they are not hidden (Mesh or Poly) “unhide all” while in Vertex SubObject mode.
Vertices have been known to “disappear”. Closing and reopening Max sometimes fixes this. Tends to happen on “bad meshes” - see what an STLCheck (modifier) tells you about the object.

It helps if we know which version of Max you’re working with - put this, and your brief system specs, in your signature.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately none of the above has worked for this particular scene. These are indeed the vertex ticks we are talking about here and not the snaps, my apology. If I create a new scene there isn’t any problems with these vertex ticks appearing, it’s just this interior scene I’m working on. Something strange did happen with this interior scene though. When I created a box and converted it to a poly there was a brief moment’s appearance of the vertex snaps and almost straight away they disappeared again. I repeated this however there was no appearance of any vertex ticks the second time round.

So all I’ve done is merged the interior scene into a new scene and all is good, the vertex ticks are showing again. How strange....

Thanks again.

Curious - glad you sorted it anyway.

You can always right-click the object > Object Properties > Vertex Ticks - but they’ll be on all the time. Better than not having them at all though ;-)
