I am starting up a new CG Usergroup here in Dallas Texas. The SMU Guildhall (http://guildhall.smu.edu/) has graciously offered the use of their facilities to host these monthly meetings. There will be doorprizes and if we are lucky food.

The cost to you - your time.

The purpose of the usergroup is to share tips, & tricks and just simply to network and get the opportunity for some facetime. I will be inviting recruiters as well as some of the local game dev studios to come out and meet some of the talented artists here in dallas...who knows it could end up in a paid gig.

It doesn’t matter if you are an amatuer or a long standing pro, all are invited and we look forward to learning from each other.

I have registered the domain cgdallas.com and will have the site up and running soon!!!!

Some of the companies pledging to sponsor the meetings

Pixologic - http://www.pixologic.com

Janimation - http://www.janimation.com

DAZ3D - http://www.daz3d.com

More are coming....

If you are interested in attending the March meeting or even willing to speak on a topic you are comfortable with - anything from basic character design to texturing please email me ()

Is this being focused on strictly game related stuff or other CG areas? The reason I ask is that there are already various Dallas area based user groups such as A Bunch of Short Guys, who do monthly meetings as well as an annual Industry Giants event that covers all aspects of animation, as well as the Dallas/Ft. Worth Autodesk Animation User Group.

It is geared for all aspects of 3d - wanting to bring more focus of ZBrush which I could not find any usergroups in the area and it transformed into more. I personally build models for use in Poser, however that is just my thing there are others that are into gaming and some are into wanting to get more into the film cg side of it. I love the bunch of short guys website so I will be going to those meetings. I would love to sync up - email me at
