hi area community!
i just wanted to post my latest findings with you, because after long searching i have found no results, about if Maxtreme 3D drivers are actually worth it…
for the past years I have been using geforge 8800gts and 9800gtx+, and becaused of direct 3d i thought it would be even faster than the quadro cards,
i had problems having fluent framerates when my scenes reached over 4million polys, so i thought about getting the quadro fx 3700 , (the 3800 doesnt seem to be much faster when
looking at nvidia comparison chart)
so i got my card on ebay.co.uk—funny that ireland ebay sellers are selling those cards, NEW, for 240€ --
came today, installed, and first tested my one scene with 4million polys (spread over big area, hundreds of objects with camera animation)
and with direct 3d, i atually got a little less performance than my 9800gtx+ (5fps instead of 6-7) , which is logical since the hardware of that card is superior to the fx3700--
so then i switched to maxtreme viewport driver, and voila,
instead of 5fps i am getting 15-20fps on my high poly scene with or w/o wireframe,
so i am happy to leave my quadro inside, and enjoy high poly viewport experience,
i can recommend quadro and maxtreme to anyone--
i wonder why the openGl driver is so slow though (2-3fps in that scene)
Maya is using OpenGl so i guess it would be very fast there as well, how come 3dsmax cannot render openGL with quadro fast?
either way, Maxtreme is the way to go, and after long research not finding any comparison, i can say that speed increase is there! :)
