What?
A 3dsMax maxScript package shaped into a Photoshop alike toolbar that covers a lot of things for texture artists. One of the key benefits is that you can install it anywhere and almost at any max packages (9+) without the need of administrative rights or script installation knowledge.
Oh and its free!, free to use and free to modify, improve or copy into your own scripting stuff no encrypted stuff.

For a quick overview and introduction of what is possible head over to the website:

And have a look at the small tool animations. Although the website itself is not yet updated it will get some big updates this weekend explaining and featuring the new tools of 3.0 as well.

Installation:
v3.0_install.gif
Just drag the MZP file into your viewport and install it from there. Files will be copied to your userpace folder so you don’t need admin rights for this and you also don’t need to restart max in order to use it.

Usage
In general its best to always work on editable poly base objects as some of the tools rely on it for certain calculations, but most of it should work as well on other object types such as primitives or mesh objects.
Multi Object unwrapping is supported for many tools but not all of them so sticking to just 1 object a time works better. Click on the help button in the toolbar to get an overview of all tools and what they do.

even though this area appears to be a graveyard here is another update:

website: http://www.renderhjs.net/
scriptspot: http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-ma...ox-for-the-texture-artist

details:
improved setup, initializes without hick ups and inits custom variables at the first launch after the setup.

A additional tile size property in the settings panel that lets you define the tiling size of the checker maps

roadkill unwrapping with a single click from within just max. It cuts along existing uv edges and unwraps them using the ABF or LSCM method. Sadly either the 3dsMax exporter/importer or roadkill changes the vertex order which is why it attaches a poly copy as a new editable poly modifier.

Command to copy UV shell groups to smoothing groups (good for normal mapping stuff)

If you uncheck “Override Edit Colors” it does not touch anymore the bitmap background in the UV editor - instead it looks cluttered like the good old max

Roadkill can be downloaded here:
http://www.pullin-shapes.co.uk/page8.htm
Just unzip it somewhere you have file access to (Vista / Win7 can be bitches with this) and link to the roadkill.exe in the TexTools settings.
