Hi everyone,

any idea how to Point Cache (one mesh per frame) an object that has a changing topology? In my case it is a Blobmesh/Pwrapper mesh generated from Particles. Obviously the default Point cache is not working as the Vertex count and placement is new at each new frame.

Any script or plug in out there that does the job in Max 2010 - 64 bit? I know RealFlow can export its Fluid meshes to .bin sequences, so it shouldn’t be that tricky to mimic in 3ds Max, right?

Cheers,

Adriano

Well, I was told that Mathew Kaustinen from Boomerlabs had a little plug in that could help with that matter. I contacted him directly and I’m still waiting for an answer. However, in the menawhile the guys from Glu3D posted out an update of their Pwrapper plug in that has a cache out features that works pretty well.

Cheers,

A.

If you cash the particles the blob mesh only works its self out on the frame your on. At least that’s better than processing hundreds of frames every time you nudge the time bar.

The new pwrapper version from glue3d has now caching features. check it out =)

By the way, i´m searching a method to cache a sequence from hair&fur animation.

I´m trying to export it taking “snapshots” from each frame and export it as bin (FRAME BY FRAME :S ). Then rename it as a sequence and import it as a “bin sequence”.

Realflow plugin give “import bin” and “export bin” options.

It would be a very usefull tool a script to do this.

=)

Yeah, i already mentioned that one above above ;) , and i tried it out in production, but it’s still buggy, won’t work with my render farm, I’m still waiting for feedback from 3Daliens, hopefully they come up with a fix soon.

I’ve finally heard from Matt Kaustinen, he’s hard to catch, always on the move, but he has a “supermesher” which could very well solve you problems, haven’t tried with hair/Fur though. But I’m not sure if he has a commercial version ready yet, i’m guessing he was kind enough to share with me as i’m a commercial user of some other plug ins of his, if you’re one also then perhaps you should try to get in touch with him through boomerlabs, his company.

Cheers, Adriano
