3DS Max dropping plugins

I am having a problem where 3DS Max is dropping plugins. I have narrowed it down to the plugin.ini file losing everything under the [Directories] section. Does anyone know what can cause this or how to fix it?

yeah had that too, 3 or 4 times. Make a backup of plugin.ini. switch on “write protect” in file properties of plugin.ini. That does the job. Be sure to remove that before installing new plugins. ;)
