I’ve downloaded this twice this morning and get a ‘broken file’ message when extracting part 2. Anyone had any success?

I seem to be able to download both parts OK (though they appear to be identical) they even seem to install OK, though there is no sign of the plug-in in 3D Max. I’m installing for Max 2010 and have double checked that I’m installing into the correct plug-in folder but still nothing??

Forum Rules - specifically Rule 5.

You created a second, virtually identical, thread on the same subject which breaches the aforementioned rule - 2 threads in the same forum on the same topic is as bad as 2 threads on the same topic in diferent forums. It fragments any replies and clutters up the forums unnecessarily.
We (admins) have to be fairly strict on this or we would (and sometimes do) get the same post spread all over the forums.

@nbrown. My earlier post was aimed at “nabeel alkelany”, not at yourself - apologies for any misunderstanding.

Ok back on track now with the forum rules, however I am still no further on with installing this plug-in!

I unpacked the .rar into the stdplugs folder of Max 2010, told the installer to install to that folder during installation and even tryed running the scripts from in max after installation but still no joy. Could it be something to do with the rar files, they have different names and the packed sizes are different but the unpacked size is the same and the exe files just overwrite each other when unpacked??

the rar files are 100% ok after you unpack them you will have a exe install it in stdplugs folder
then if it doesn’t appear in max go to customize menu and then customize user interface then add a new menu then from action menu add YK_Paint to it that should help

Ok I’m about ready to give up now.

Your right the .rar file does seem OK. The software seems to install Ok. Max creates a “YK Tools” menu but does’nt show it because the action you mention does not appear in the list. I have re-downloaded the rar’s, I have restarted both PC and Max and I have tryed to create the menu item myself - still no joy.

Anyone got any final ideas??

Ok so the patch worked.............After a fashion!

I’m sorry but whilst this plug-in seems to offer a lot I feel its not quite there yet. Having performed the fix as instructed and set up the menu I was able to get Yk paint to work in Max 2010. However, a script error kept re-occuring and I wasn’t able to get any of the larger objects, trees, buildings, stones etc to work at all because of this. On a possitive note the grasses and some of the flowers worked with no script errors and did produce good results.

These good results would have been enough for me to keep using Yk paint........However the next time I came to open Max it crashed out and did so every time until I eventually removed Yk paint from the plug-ins.

So while very promising, I will be giving this a miss thanks, but I will watch out for future developments.
