| afterburn 4, big black lines artifacts
|
|
|

In the image above you can see a big black line, that is just above the short/fat chimney. Such lines appear on random frames in my renderings. Most of the frames render out OK, but some of them have these lines. I’m using afterburn 4, max2009, octane shader. I can’t resolve it, no matter what i change, and i can’t use the raymarcher (it’s slower than Evolution)… Also, i have pflow set to phantom particles, so it can’t be the cause also. If i change the seed it does disappear from the current frame, but it appears on some other frame. Crazy. What can i do?

So it turned out to be the shadows. I used max standard omni with AB shadow map. Turning the map size higher did make the black tard things smaller, but never removed them completely, white at the same time adding the Whole Eternity to render time. So i just killed the shadow. Why it’s happening on certain frames is still beyond my simple earth-bound humanly mind.

I’m glad you’re up and running, but we’d definitely be interested in looking into this further. If you can open up a support ticket at the TurboSquid website (www DOT turbosquid DOT com SLASH support) and attach a simple scene, I can check it out and see about getting you a more satisfactory explanation on why it’s happening and whether or not it’s a bug in the software.
Also, it would be helpful to know the following things:
1. You’re running Max 2009 - are you running the 32-bit or 64-bit flavor?
2. Do you have the service packs for max 2009 installed? If so, which ones?
3. What Operating System are you running?
4. Do you have AfterBurn 4.0 or 4.0b installed (you can find this in the AB About box)?
5. Do you have other plug-ins installed? If so, which ones?
The more details you can provide, the better. You definitely shouldn’t feel like you’re on your own with problems like this, so use our support team to help you out.
Sincerely,
-=Beau
