Hi All,
I’m curious about these two plugins. I don’t intend to turn this topic as X is better than Y war, but appreciated if any user who have used or is using it could share some insights or work experience. Thank you.

I’ve been using PolyBoost for several months and it’s part of my daily work flow. It doesn’t have any magic buttons; but, it does have a lot of buttons. Out of the box, I didn’t find it very helpful. Some of the names on the buttons seemed arcane. After going through the limited tutorial videos a hand full of times, PolyBoost became second nature. There are many buttons that I don’t use; but, I might in the future. PolyBoost gives me access to stuff that I might not use otherwise. It wasn’t intuitive. I had to work with it; but, the learning process was worth my time. I recommend it; but, I know there are others who don’t like it.  Spend some time with it and you’ll like it. Try to use it out of the box and you’ll be dissappointed. IMHO.

I use both all the time, probably equally. Each has a lot of features the other doesn’t, so I highly recommend buying both, they’re great.

Hi! Can you please mention a few features Orionflame does have and Polyboost 4.1 does not ? I am really curios, because when i tested OF i found nothing interesting that cant be done with PB. I mean some tools you are using, not checkbox features.

Thanks!

in orionflame you can remove selected vertex/edge/face loops with one click button but in PB i couldnt find a way to do that easy .

Here’s a few…

Orionflame
----------
Circle
Connect Selected
Connect Selected Edges 2
Connect Selected Edges 3
Divide Selected Edges to 4
Slide

Polyboost
---------
InsertLoop
PolyDraw / Polybranch
Select Random Subobjects
Select Tops Of Extrusions
Select Hard Edges

I believe each of these tools that I use are unique to their respective package (but I only did a quick look). And they each have tons of other tools that I’m sure other people use all the time, these are just the ones I run into most often.

In general I find that orionflame has many simple but quick tools that eliminate unneeded mousclicks, so that operation you need to do 500 times a day is now a lot quicker to do. And in general, I find polyboost has those slightly more exotic tools that you may only use a few times a day, but when you do use them, they save you like 10-15 minutes of tedious manual work. So again, I highly recommend getting both.

I only have experience with PB.But have found it to be invaluable even though i’ve only really used about 30% of it’s features.Max feels bare without it once you start using it!!

It has gotten a lot more stable and predictable of late and when you get the hang of the hotkeys you’ll see great benefits when modeling. In particular for re-topo work.plus it’s so cheap,it’s practically free:)
