| Where can I get ProBoolean
|
|
|
Hello All,
I just recently started to get back into 3d modeling - may prove useful as I move out of college and into the workforce. I’ve been looking around at several modeling posts for a boolean solution and keep seeing “ProBooleans” come up. I’ve found information and videos on it, but no place to really download it without paying for some subscription to a site. My questions is where I can download it? Does it cost money? And if so, how much?
Thanks,
Jared

What version of Max are you using?
Pro Boolean first appeared in Max as an Extension for subscribers, downloadable from the Subscription Center. That was back in Max version… errr… was it 6 or 7? It was included as a standard feature in subsequent versions, and can be found in Compound Objects, in the Geometry section of the Create Panel.

Fascinating, is it possible that I just blew past it like a horse with blinders?? Thanks! I’ll try it when I get off work.

So… I went home and sought out the ProBoolean… nowhere to be found. I even looked it up in the user reference; nothing. I am working on MAX 8 SP3. That being said, is there a place where I can download and install it?
Thanks,
Jared

I don’t have in Max8 either. It is there in Max9 (SP2) and above. If it was for subscription customers only then it was only available as a download from the subscription centre. If you are on subscription it might still be available, if not then it probably isn’t available - unless you upgrade Max of course.

Maybe my menory is worse than I thought.
It could have been an extension for Max 8, not sure.
I just loaded Max 8, and it’s there, but then I would have installed the extension if it was one.

When I moved all my Max installs from my old system to the current one, I more than likely didn’t install anything but SPs on the older versions, which may well account for the difference.
A quick check in my updates directory shows “3dsmax8_probooleans_extension.msi” so it’s almost certainly a subscription-only update (in Max 8) but incorporated into the main product at Max 9.
