I am trying to rig up a set of bifold doors for an animation using the HI solver.  The hinges / pivot points are not on the same axis and when MAX solves the joint it ‘bends’ the wrong way, how can I fix this??

Image JOINT_1 shows the resulting joint, whereas image JOINT_2 shows the direction I want it to pivot (this is the end of the joint when it is fully extended)

Can’t you just use the AEC Bifold Doors?
