I might have bit off more than I can chew, since I’m a bit of a noob to rigging.
I have a character that is sort of like Medusa, where the character’s head will have tentacles/snake like things in it.
How would I go about rigging that. I’ve been able to rig the base character easy enough with Biped and even Cat, but what’s killing me is trying to rig the snakes, I can sort of apply bones to the snake bodies, but I can’t get the bones to twist well, they’ll bend in a single direction, but I can’t seem to make an S, everything falls apart then…

Any suggestions?

I would look into Spline IK. I think there is a tutorial on it with a snake. Once you know how to do that, make more snakes.
I seem to remember a sample file with an octopuss with bones in it’s tenticles, that may have been spline IK, or give you some ideas.

I suggest that you can use the spline IK for snake’s behavior.

if you have cat I would say use that instead of splines, more options, easier to control. use tails for the snakes, spline ik can be applied to cat tails

if you look at this the hair uses tails

I’m also trying to rig something like this but the main issue is to avoid snakes intersecting each other...rigging them individually is not a major issue though but if there is no way to detect collision procedurally, then its a lot of work animating them manually ....
is there a way by which we can make an object slide over another while moving it in viewport?
any further ideas on this?

well...what seem to work for now is to use volume select with soft selection and a negative push...its not a great solution though but kinda working…
