Hi, I’m learning rigging on my own, and i had not problems until now. I did a basic hierarchy using helpers (i colored them in red for better explain, bad idea) and the last one in the hierarchy holds the ik solver, i mean the ik solver has a position constraint to the helper. But it does very weird things when i try to control the arm based on the hierarchy that i have done, it just doesn’t work like i expected. The bone just doesn’t follow the ik solver…

I attached 3 images so you can get what’s happening. I hope u can help me.

What are you using the position constraint for? How about just linking it?

Well I’m using position constraint cuz I’m trying to achieve IK/FK switch, so what i did is to attach the ik-solver (through select and link) to one helper and basically i used position constraint to attach that helper to another 2 helpers, so when i switch the position-constraint from one side to another, i can get FK or IK movements, those dummies that u see with numbers 1,2,3 are used to do FK movements.

But i don’t know why this doesn’t work. Im not using position constraint or anything weird on the ik-solver, is just select and link, if i move the dummy that is the parent of the ik it works but when i try to move anything beyond that level of hierarchy the bone just get static, is very annoying. I have tested a few parts of my hierarchy in another 3ds max scene and usually it works. Maybe my scene get too complex and i’m too newbie to grasp what’s happening.

Plus English is not my first language, so is very hard to me explain myself on complex stuff like this. Sorry if u have to decipher what i’m trying to say here :D
