Hi,

I am working with 3ds max 2012.

I have a very simple character that a client has designed for a 2D animation and now they want him to work in 3D.

The design is very simple and works well in 2D.
Think the letter K tilted 90 degrees. Almost like a fat stick man.
It has short fat arms and legs and not much of a body.
The main issue is that it need always to keep his volume correct at all poses and negative space, which is always smooth like a bezier curve.

At the moment I have tried creating low level mesh that is skined as good as I can get.
I added a new highres mesh on top of it with skin wrap that has high leve of influence and it gives me a good smooth solution but brings out other problems.

I also tried a quick and dirty spline rig but although that give me a good way to pose the character it will be impossible to animate him.

Anyone knows a good plugin that works better then skin that might be able to preserve the volume of the character at all time?

Any help would be appreciated,

Happy holidays,

Best,

Asa
