Hello everybody.

I have some trouble on a fish model. In fact, I did the model, I made the rig with CAT (which didn’t give me any problem, thanks to Louis Marcoux) but at the skinning time, I noticed that even if every vertices of my model was affected by bones, the majority of them just didn’t want to follow my animation.

I was able to understand why: in the edit poly, there was a part of the vertices that was selected. So, just this part followed obediently my animation. After realized my mistake, I unselected all vertices of my model and reaply a new skin modif.

But nothing to do: the model wouldn’t answer at all to the animation. It just want to move if I select ALL the vertices/edges/poly/elements of it and reaply the skin.

I thought that it was strange because my professor told me that we have to unselected all part of the poly before aply any effect on it (unless we want to reach a specific goal), but maybe it would be nice if it work, even in this strange way. And it worked, the model moved as I wanted.

But after, I wanted to make some morpher on it… And that’s were the troubles came. After the first morph was made, I tested him on the model at a time where he is animated. The morpher worked...too well. Because the facial morph was here, but more than that, the model took his initial position (the morpher position in fact.) I’m pretty sure that it’s because I have every vertices of my poly selected, but if I don’t selected them, the skinning turn off.

I’m affraid that it can be a very beginner mistake but I really don’t understand this situation and can’t solve it by myself. So if anyone can help me It’ll be very nice !

It is possible you can still be in Vertex (or other) sub-object mode with no verts selected. You can tell by the SO icon shown next to the modifiers (three dots for vert mode). Be sure to exit SO mode and getting back to object level.

Put the Morpher below the Skin in the stack.

Hi Samab, thanks you very much, all your advices was good !

I totally ignored this story with the SO mode, for me, if nothing is selected when you apply an modifier then it work, obviously I was wrong.

So thanks again for your great help !

Have a nice day.
